Discovering Individuality via Craft
Handicraft is more than just a project; it’s an imaginative, inventive, and expressive journey that lasts from kindergarten through eighth grade. Our craft programme, which places a strong emphasis on fostering creativity, provides a wide choice of mediums and techniques so that each student can discover their unique artistic voice.
Our kids engage in a thrilling study of textures, colours, and forms, starting with clay modelling and paper tearing in kindergarten and moving up to pencil shred work and woollen thread collage in upper primary. Every week, certain classes are incorporated into our regular routine, giving students the time and materials to work on their creative projects.
Our students’ passion for handicraft is sparked by the more complex techniques they learn as they advance through the grades, like 3D origami, hug embroidery, quilling, and macrame, which test their abilities. Our students have the freedom to realise their creative ideas using supplies provided by the school.
Outside of the classroom, our pupils take an active part in a variety of craft contests, including as school-wide inter-house, inter-school, and ESA competitions. Their extraordinary abilities and commitment have not only brought them multiple awards but also enhanced our school’s standing as a community leader in innovation and quality.
We consider that teaching adolescents craft involves more than just making art; it also involves helping them express themselves, think critically, and gain confidence. Our goal is to encourage our students to become creative problem solvers and inventive leaders in a world that is constantly changing by offering them a complete craft programme that promotes a lifelong love of creating art.
